2014 Tree Planting Project
The Chequamegon Bay Urban Forest Restoration Project, a cooperative effort to plant City boulevard trees to filter water before it enters into Lake Superior, has been funded by the Urban and Community Forestry Program (Great Lakes Restoration Initiative) of the USDA Forest Service.  The Cities of Ashland, Bayfield and Washburn have cumulatively planted 130 trees this Spring.  Ashland has planted 70 trees, Washburn 30 trees and Bayfield 30 trees.  Red Cliff is planning to plant twelve trees in the fall.  The trees are a mix of ornamental and shade trees and Japanese tree lilacs.

The no-match grant of over forty-nine thousand dollars was applied for by the City of Bayfield, which is coordinating the grant for the four communities.
